when I was a young adult, I became deeply curious about other cultures—perhaps precisely because I didn’t grow up surrounded by them. Raised in a world where everyone shared my background, I began to feel the urge to look beyond the familiar. As I opened myself to conversations with people from different cultures, I was gifted with new perspectives that forever changed the way I see the world.

Now, after 18 years of living in Rotterdam with it’s rich diversity, I cannot imagine a life limited to just one culture, color, or upbringing. I embrace the incredible diversity of our world and see it as an enrichment of both our outer and inner lives.

This passion to reflect global diversity grew into an unstoppable force within me—a fire that fuels my art. Through my work, I strive to open eyes and minds, encouraging others to look beyond their own world and explore the richness of different cultures, beliefs, and stories. A central theme in my work is the portrayal of tribes and cultures that are slowly disappearing or being replaced in today’s fast-changing digital world. I see it as my mission to preserve their presence through art—to give voice to those who are increasingly unheard.

Over the years, I’ve explored various subjects yet I always find myself returning to portraits, especially those from a very different background then mine. There’s something about their stories, and the deep-rooted connection to tradition and nature that continues to draw me in. That’s where my creative energy feels most alive.

Art is my way of fostering connection and understanding. I invite viewers to engage in dialogue, to listen to each other and to accept one another.

Let’s talk. Let’s connect. Let’s celebrate what makes us different—and what makes us human.
