I'm a freelance illustrator from NYC. I was born in Sri Lanka, a tropical Asian island, and moved to New York with my family when I was 10. I pursued a Bachelor's degree in Illustration at Parsons School of Design and turned my passion for drawing into a thriving career.

 

Drawing has been a cherished hobby of mine since I was a child. Even during my early school days, my artistic talents set me apart, and I became well-known among my peers for my love of art. Throughout my school years, I had the honor of not only participating in various art competitions but also winning several of them. These experiences nurtured my passion for illustration and provided the initial spark that ultimately led me to pursue a career in the field. It's truly amazing to see the progress when I compare paintings from years ago to my latest ones. It shows how much I've improved over time. 

I began my journey with commission drawings in April 2020, just about six months after I started honing my current art style. Since then, I've had the pleasure of creating nearly 1000 commission drawings, which have included amazing cartoon portraits, pet portraits, eye-catching cover artworks, and playful cartoon logos. It's been an absolute blast turning a childhood hobby into a full-time passion.

Beyond my artistic endeavors, I'm an enthusiastic traveler with a desire to explore the world. To date, I've visited twelve captivating countries across Asia and Europe, each journey adding new dimensions to my perspective. What makes these adventures even more enjoyable is the seamless integration of technology into my creative process. Armed with my trusty iPad, I can bring my artistry with me wherever I go, sketching and creating in various inspiring locations, not just within the confines of my studio.

I may have been born with the talent of drawing, but I've come to realize that it's not the only factor that matters. Dedication, passion, and consistency are also key factors. With these qualities, anyone can excel at what they do, even if they weren't born with natural talent. So, my advice to everyone who wants to become an illustrator is to keep practicing and never give up!
